Ingredients

  • 16 ounce boxed angel food cake mix + ingredients to prepare (it's probably just water)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp almond extract
  • 8 ounce container whipped topping
  • 2-21 ounce cans Cherry Fruit Filling

Method

  1. Prepare the angel food cake mix according to package directions and bake in a 9x13 baking pan. Let cool completely. When cool, cut into 1 inch cubes.
  2. Beat cream cheese and sugar together with an electric hand mixer until smooth. Spoon the whipped topping and almond extract to cream cheese mixture. Beat again until creamy and smooth.
  3. Place half of the cubed angel food cake into the bottom of a trifle dish or a baking dish. Spread half of the cream cheese mixture over the angel food cake. Evenly spoon 1 can of the Cherry Fruit Filling.
  4. Repeat the layers.
  5. Refrigerate at least 2 hours, up to one day before serving.
