Ingredients
For the crust and topping:
- 1 ½ cups old-fashioned oats
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup light brown sugar packed
- ½ cup unsalted butter melted
- ½ cup Musselman’s unsweetened applesauce
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the filling:
- 21 ounce can Lucky Leaf cherry fruit filling
- ½ cup Musselman’s unsweetened applesauce
- 1/2 lemon juice
Method
- Preheat your oven to 350°F and prepare an 8x8-inch pan with parchment paper or a light grease.
- In a large bowl, combine oats, flour, baking soda, cinnamon, salt, and brown sugar. Stir in melted butter, applesauce, and vanilla extract until crumbly and well mixed.
- Press half the oat mixture firmly into the pan as the crust. Bake for 10 minutes.
- While the crust bakes, mix the cherry fruit filling, applesauce, and lemon juice. Spread this filling evenly over the warm crust.
- Sprinkle the remaining oat mixture over the filling as a topping.
- Bake 30–35 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
- Cool completely before slicing in 9 bars. Tip! Chill the pan in the fridge 30 minutes before cutting for clean slices.
