Homemade Tzatziki Sauce
Ingredients- 1 cup plain Greek yogurt (full-fat or low-fat)
- 1 cucumber, grated and squeezed to remove excess water
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh dill, finely chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried dill)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- ½ teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
- A pinch of black pepper
- Peel and grate the cucumber using a box grater. Place the grated cucumber in a clean kitchen towel or cheesecloth and squeeze out as much liquid as possible to avoid a watery sauce.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, minced garlic, chopped dill, olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
- Stir the ingredients until well combined. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
