Total Time 50 minutes
Servings: 6 servings

Ingredients

Casserole:
Breadcrumb Topping:
  • 1 cup seasoned breadcrumbs
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp grated Parmesan optional

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F. Lightly grease a 13×9 casserole dish.
  2. Add the uncooked pasta, marinara, water, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine. Be sure the pasta is completely submerged in the liquid so it cooks completely.
  3. Add the chicken pieces, pressing them slightly into the sauce without stirring.
  4. Cover tightly with foil and bake for 35 minutes.
  5. Remove foil, stir the casserole, and check for doneness on the chicken and pasta. (mine is completely cooked at 35 minutes.) If it is not cooked through- return to the oven and bake uncovered for 10 more minutes, or until pasta is just al dente.
  6. Sprinkle the mozzarella and Parmesan cheese over the top.
  7. In a bowl, mix breadcrumbs, melted butter, garlic powder, and Parmesan (if using). Sprinkle over the cheese.
  8. Bake uncovered for 10 minutes, until the topping is golden brown.
  9. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy! Serve with a side salad, garlic toast or your favorite veggies.
