Ingredients for Oreo Truffles

- A large sheet pan
- Parchment paper
- Bowls to melt the candy wafers
- Small cookie scoop
- Cream cheese
- 48 Oreo cookies
- White star sprinkles (optional)
- Red candy wafers
- Blue candy wafers
- White chocolate melt wafers
How To Make It
Prep Your Pan:
Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
Make the Truffle Base:
In a food processor, pulse the Oreo cookies (filling and all) until they form a fine crumb. Transfer the crushed cookies to a large mixing bowl and add the softened cream cheese.

Mix:
Using a hand mixer or stand mixer, beat the Oreo crumbs and cream cheese together until fully combined and smooth. The mixture should hold together like dough.
Form the Truffles:
Using a small cookie scoop or spoon, roll the mixture into 1-inch balls. You should get about 40 truffles. Place them evenly spaced on the prepared baking sheet.

Freeze:
Place the tray in the freezer for 15 minutes to firm up the truffles. This makes them easier to dip.
Melt the Candy Coating:
While the truffles chill, melt your red, white, and blue candy melts according to the package directions. Work with one color at a time to keep the melts smooth and manageable.

Dip and Decorate:
- Start with the blue coating: Dip 12 truffles, using a fork to turn and coat evenly. Let excess coating drip off, then place back on the tray and immediately top with patriotic sprinkles.
- Next, dip 16 truffles in red coating and repeat the process.
- Finally, coat the remaining 12 truffles in white and decorate.

Chill to Set:
Once all truffles are coated and decorated, return the tray to the refrigerator and chill for at least 1 hour, or until the candy coating is fully set.
Assemble into a Flag:
To create a patriotic presentation, arrange the truffles into the shape of the American flag—use the blue truffles for the star field and alternate rows of red and white truffles for the stripes.

✅ Tips for Perfect Oreo Truffles
If you have trouble with melting the candy wafers, this is a helpful tutorial HERE.
- I used to use a double boiler when melting chocolate or candy wafers, but I found that method to be harder to control than melting them in a microwave. My chocolate would seize up half of the time, so I prefer melting the wafers in the microwave now.
- Whichever method works best for you, do that 🙂
- Thin Candy Melts if Needed– If your candy melts are too thick, stir in a teaspoon of coconut oil or vegetable shortening (not butter or milk) to smooth them out.
- Use a Fork or Dipping Tool: A fork or candy dipping tool helps you coat the truffles cleanly. Tap off excess coating before placing them on the tray.
- Decorate Fast! Add sprinkles or toppings immediately after dipping each truffle—the coating sets quickly!
- Use Full-Fat Cream Cheese: Full-fat cream cheese helps the truffles hold their shape and creates the creamiest texture. Make sure it’s softened to room temp for easy mixing.
- No Food Processor? No Problem! Place Oreos in a zip-top bag and crush with a rolling pin until finely ground. Just make sure there are no large chunks.
- Chill Before Dipping: Freezing the formed balls for 15–30 minutes makes dipping MUCH easier and helps the candy coating set more quickly.
- Keep Refrigerated: Oreo truffles taste best chilled and hold their shape better. Store in the fridge until ready to serve.

Q: Can I make Oreo truffles ahead of time?
Yes! They’re perfect for prepping ahead. Make and store them in the fridge up to 5 days in advance, or freeze for up to 2 months.
Q: Can I use flavored Oreos?
Absolutely! Try mint, peanut butter, golden, or birthday cake Oreos for a fun twist.
Q: Do I have to use candy melts?
Nope! You can also use white, milk, or dark chocolate chips. Just be sure to melt them gently with a bit of coconut oil to keep the coating smooth.
Q: Why are my truffles too soft or sticky?
You may need to chill the mixture longer or use less cream cheese. Overmixing can also make the texture too soft.
