It’s an easy 4 ingredients:
- Plastic wrap to wrap the cheese ball before refrigerating
- Sharp knife
- Food grade tweezers (optional) but helps with the olive placement
- 16 oz cream cheese, softened (2 bricks)
- 2 cups white sharp cheddar cheese, shredded (substitute mozzarella or pepper jack cheese, as long as it’s white)
- 1 packet ranch seasoning mix
- Black jumbo olives (for the face) OR Black decorating gel
- Crackers, pretzels, and veggie sticks (for serving)
How To Make It
Make the cheese mixture – In a large bowl, mix together cream cheese, cheddar, and ranch seasoning.
Shape the ball – Place the mixture on a sheet of plastic wrap and form it into a ball. Wrap tightly and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.

Add Jack’s face – Using a sharp knife cut a jumbo black olive in half and slice the tops at an angle for the eyes. Slice more olives for the stitched mouth. I found adding the longer slices for the stitches first and then filling in the smile with shorter olives slices the easiest. Use small triangles for the nose.
Tip: Arranging the olives on a plate before adding to the cheese ball cuts down on mistakes. Use food grade tweezers to keep the face clean.

Serve & enjoy – Place on a platter with crackers, pretzels, or veggie sticks. Watch your guests smile as they dig into Jack’s spooky face!

Tips
- ✅ For extra creaminess, add 1/4 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt to the mix.
- ✅ If you want Jack’s face to really pop, spread a thin layer of whipped cream cheese over the mozzarella for an even smoother finish before decorating.
- ✅ Not a fan of ranch? Swap the seasoning for Italian herbs, taco seasoning, or even everything bagel seasoning!
