It’s almost too good to be true! Almost…because this dish really is super simple and so flavorful from just a couple of ingredients you probably already have on hand! When I tell you my family gobbled up this saucy chicken and pasta so quick, I’m talking gone and that’s saying a lot from my picky family. If my family loved this recipe, I know yours will too!

What you’ll need

  • A Slow Cooker– a larger size like 6-8 quarts
  •  Chicken breast– You can use chicken thighs if you prefer, just lessen the cooking time so the thighs don’t over cook.
  • A jar of marinara sauce– or your favorite spaghetti sauce
  • A jar of your favorite Alfredo sauce
  • A box of pasta– I’m using ziti but any pasta works
  • Water
  • Seasonings- I personally think the seasonings make this dish. Add any seasonings your family likes. Enjoy things spicy? Add red pepper flakes. I’m using salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, and fresh basil leaves.
  • Fresh basil (optional)
  • Shaved parmesan (optional)

How to make it

Spray your crock pot with nonstick spray or use a slow cooker liner. Place the chicken breasts in the crock pot. Sprinkle over the seasonings.

Pour the alfredo sauce and marinara sauce over the chicken. Add the water to the marinara sauce jar and give it a good shake and pour that in to the crock pot.

Using a spoon, swirl the sauces together. Add the basil, if using. Cover and cook on low 3-4 hours or on high for 2 hours.

If you’re using chicken thighs you’ll only need about 2-3 hours on low.

Cook the pasta according to the package directions about 30 minutes before the chicken is finished cooking. When the chicken is done, shred it. I love to use a hand mixer to shred my chicken easily! Great hack!

If you need a pasta pot, this is the one I use and it’s amazing!

Add the pasta to the crock pot and mix everything together. Garnish with fresh basil and shaved parmesan cheese. I love serving this dinner with easy biscuit dough garlic knots or cheesy garlic bread sliders.
